Three and Free

Hard to believe, but Bica’s Third Anniversary is quickly approaching. On Monday, 19AUG13, we will celebrate with our great customers in our traditional fashion: Free Coffee All Day! The menu will be extensive, featuring the following roasters and coffees:

  • Ritual, from San Francisco, CA: Costa Rica El Angel
  • Four Barrel, from San Francisco, CA: Ethiopia Aricha
  • Verve, from Santa Cruz, CA: Panama Elida (Natural process)
  • Intelligentsia, from Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA: Mexico Perla de Oaxaca (Organic)
  • Handsome, from Los Angeles, CA: Ethiopia Deri Kochoha
  • Coava, from Portland, OR:
    • Ethiopia Kilenso (Natrual process)
    • Colombia Blanca Diva Sanches (Semi-Washed process)
    • Honduras Cornelio Nunez
  • New to our celebration this year, we will also be pulling espresso shots from Verve, their Guatemala Santa Clara Espresso.

    This event is Bica’s way of giving back to her growing and increasingly loyal customer base, as well as a way to truly showcase Bica’s original multi-roaster concept.

    This Third Year has brought many new additions to Bica. We’ve added Four Barrel, Handsome, Coava, to the roaster roster. We’ve added our lunch program through partnering with Southie, up College Ave a few blocks. The BicaTeam has solidified with the addition of three great new baristas, Taylor (who will be with us only in spirit as she is now about 2/3 of the way up the Pacific Crest Trail), Jonah, and Harper who complement the long-term team of Cameron, Justine, Bryn, and Mary. We’ve put Justine in charge of expanding our tea program with Red Blossom. We’ve added a refreshing drink component to the menu with our agua frescas or shrubs, whatever we can invent given what fresh produce is in season. And the team has all shown great enthusiasm to share their own concoctions, be it Cameron’s bread, Bryn’s pie, or just plain fresh fruit from the plethora of local Farmer’s Markets. There are plenty of initiatives on the drawing board for our Fourth Year to continue to build the concept.

    With all of the great options going on in the Bay Area, be it amazing boats sailing in the America’s Cup or the stunning cars parading down in Carmel or just cruising up to Napa to watch the grapes ripen, I am so very grateful to my customers that Bica has played a part in your daily lives. I would also like to thank Bica’s extraordinary coffee roasters and other partners, all mentioned above. Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to my incredible BicaTeam for their loyalty, attention to quality and customer service, and for setting an experience that truly makes Bica feel a bit like home. You have all been so supportive and have made Bica’s Third Year a great success.
